Blowering Dam
Friday morning, we headed off out of Sydney and met up with the first group of members at Pheasants Nest. We picked up Phil Coleman and then headed to pick up our wally for the
weekend, Phil Whitehead and family. (He set the meeting point for the trip and forgot what it was). Just before Yass, Tim, Phil Whiteheads son, encountered mechanical issues. We decided to leave Tim’s car at the Yass service centre and Phil Coleman kindly put the camper on the back of his patrol and towed it to camp. Once at camp we set up and waited for more members to arrive. First Brad and Vicki
then Reece arrived followed by Shane and Lisa. Sitting and chatting before heading off for the night. Next morning Steve and Jack followed by Shannon and his son arrived at camp. As the day heated up we decided to drive to the dam for a swim to cool down. After the swim we headed back for lunch and a bit of a water fight. Later in the afternoon we drove up to the town of Talbingo and explored the surrounds. From there, we entered the state forest and viewed a lookout that overlooked Blowering Dam. Sunday morning, we waited for our final member to arrive at camp, Jane Osbourne. Upon her arrival, we jumped in cars and drove up the mountains to the Blue Water Hole where we walked a track up to the waterfall. After 8 water crossings and a steep uphill and downhill descent we finally arrived at the bottom of the waterfall. A well-deserved swim and relax at the falls before starting the trek back to the cars. Reece, Shannon and Phil decided they would go for a walk to the caves and explore the caves whilst the others headed back to 40 degrees plus temperatures at camp. Karen
and I decided it was too hot to cook so we headed into Tumut for a pub meal whilst the rest battled the heat back at camp. Monday saw some members head home. The rest of us headed down to Joumana River where we sat and relaxed in the water. After a relaxing afternoon we headed back to camp where we had dinner and started packing up for the early departure the next morning. Tuesday morning, saw us fully packed up and we started our journey home. The weekend was relaxing and very much enjoyable. Karen and I would like to thank all who attended the trip and made it enjoyable and full of laughter. A big shout out to Phil Coleman who went out of his way to tow Tim’s camper to camp and back to Campbelltown.
